Monmouth Dean drafted a paper back in 2010 on the “rebranding of London villages”.
This was after speaking with a huge number of people such as residents, office occupiers, landlords, developers and other influential individuals. The vast majority were in agreement that it is almost impossible to scrap the quaint neighbourhoods, and their names, which make up London. One person said “even in the centre you can be tricked into thinking you’re far away from the chaos of life in the capital”.
The BBC commented that it was “estate agents” especially that were trying to promote this agglomeration. See their article here which they released in the same year.
Yes certain areas are experimenting with a new name, arguably Noho but Midtown? Just ask the people who live, work and play there…..or Google it ;-)
