The Amwell Street Project

Due to their ever expanding empire and investment from Gucci, leading fashion company, Alexander McQueen, outgrew the two buildings they occupied opposite Exmouth Market. After the business had been moved to a stunning new building on the Clerkenwell, we were asked to sell their existing premises. In September 2009 Ray Walker of Monmouth Dean was asked to appraise the values of the two adjoining properties and find owner occupiers who would appreciate them. Whilst 2009 had been a tough year for commercial property, after an active and thorough autumn marketing campaign we were able to shortlist a number of interested parties and select the two purchasers we believed were most likely to perform.Number 10 was bought by DNA Films, the highly rated producers of the Last King of Scotland, 28 Days Later, Love Actually, The History Boys and Judge Dread. Let’s hope their new home inspires them to continue producing great British films. The buyer of Number 8 was just as interesting. Joe Corre, the son of Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood and co founder of Agent Provocateur bought the building for his own occupation.Number 10 was the building that needed the most work, but was first to sell and achieved a price of £1.55 million in December 2009. Number 8 was in better condition and achieved £1.6 million in January 2010.
